Monash Sport is looking to once again support a team of its students, staff, alumni, family and friends from the Monash University community in the upcoming Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Festival which will be held on Sunday, 3rd December 2006.
Event Information
The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon Carnival is an exciting Event for participants of all ages and fitness levels. With running and walking opportunities ranging from distances of 10 km up to 42km, Monash University is hoping to support at least 100 of its students, staff, alumni, family and friends in this event.
Starting at the Esplanade Bridge , the flat, shaded and scenic course will take the runners through some of the most historical sites of Singapore , picturesque East Coast Park coastal route, the Business District of Shenton Way and finish at the Padang.

Registrations are now open and the first 150 Monash race entrants to sign up will receive FREE race registration! To sign up and to be a part of this exciting event, please use the link below to register and follow the registration guidelines provided.

The first 150 people to register for the event with 'Team Monash' will also receive a free running top, either singlet or t-shirt and a sports pack. There are also many other great benefits in joining the Monash Fun Run Festival such as the pre-race and post-race functions and access to the Hospitality Marquee on Race Day.
Please ensure that when you register with the Monash Team that you indicate what style of top you want (t-shirt or singlet) and the appropriate size. These tops will be presented to you at the pre-race function, on Friday 1st December, 2006, to ensure you feel comfortable wearing this on the day of the Race.
Support Services
Monash University can provide you with all the support you need in order to complete your part of the Singapore Marathon. Whether you need high performance training for the marathon, or physical assistance in starting off your training, we can help.

Chris Wardlaw is a former student and tutor at Monash, an Australian Olympian and the Head Coach of the Australian Track and Field team at the Sydney Olympics (Including Cathy Freeman). He is regarded as one of the leading long distance running coaches going around.

Volunteering - Can You Lend a Hand?
Monash Sport is also providing the opportunity to enjoy the fun and the experience of the Community Fitness Events with ‘Team Monash' without even raising a sweat. We require Team Monash Support Crew for the Monash Fun Run Festival's (Melbourne & Singapore Marathons) and also the ‘Around the Bay in a Day' Ride and the Portsea Swim Classic, in a huge variety of duties, and we would love for you to be part of the Team.
All Support Crew receive the official Monash Sport Team t-shirt, and access to the Hospitality Marquee on Race Day.

Marathon Team Relay
This is a great opportunity for corporate, school and social groups to jointly complete the course and to raise funds for charity.
Each team is to consist of a maximum of 6 runners and a minimum of 4 to include men, women and mixed teams.
Quarter Marathon (10km)
The Standard Chartered Singapore Quarter Marathon is a 10km event. It gives young and old the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere of Singapore 's unique scenic route.
It starts at Esplanade Drive with a U turn at Marina Padang and finishes at The Padang, Singapore .
Half Marathon Run (21.1km)
The Half-Marathon starts at Esplanade Drive with a U turn at Crawford Street and finishes at The Padang. This is the largest half-marathon in Singapore with 3,549 competitors.
Marathon (42.2km)
The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon starts at Esplanade Drive and finishes at The Padang.

> Race route (118K, Adobe Acrobat .pdf format) Please Note: All start race areas will have staff and volunteers to assist participants with information. Water, toilets and medical support services will be located throughout the race route. A clothing/bag transfer bus is provided to take participant's clothing/bags to the finish line for collection on presentation of a race number.
Runners Entitlements
All participants in the Singapore Marathon will receive a Race entry pack and a finisher's medal and a personalised finisher's Race Certificate.
