Community Sports Day – Anyone can play, its your day!

On Sunday 1 July, the Venues team at Monash Sport, Clayton hosted the inaugural Community Sports Day, that incorporated a badminton round robin competition.

Featuring 40 teams with ages ranging from 12 to 70, players enjoyed the social round robin competition. The event provided participants the opportunity to meet other players, build social sporting networks and play badminton in a relaxed and fun environment! There were thrilling matches that went down to the wire and great support was provided from friends and family that came to spectate.

As the president of the Monash Sport Clayton Badminton Club Loke Poh said, “I am thrilled to see the sport (and the way you created the competition) able to transcend players with different walks of life (it was like united nations in there), different age groups (I think I saw kids of <10yo competing against some >70yo) and even transcend gender as well (men competition against ladies in the same competition).”

Congratulations to all participants with your involvement in making the day so memorable. The next Community Sports Day promises to build upon the success of the first event towards the end of the year. We look forward to seeing you there.
