Football Superstar starts filming at Clayton

Monday 20 April

The filming of the second series of FOX8’s reality TV show Football Superstar is currently underway. This weekend saw 126 young hopefuls try out at Monash University Clayton for a spot in the series.

The rest of the series will be filmed on Monash Clayton’s sporting fields and in Monash Sport’s facilities.

The winner of the series will receive a one-year playing contract with Melbourne Victory plus a sports bursary for academic fees and accommodation from Monash University.

The grounds looked great and were well received by the event organisers and production crews.

At lunchtime, the top 50 spots in the group were announced. Two-time Hyundai A League winning coach Ernie Merrick then put the contestants through their paces in the afternoon session, looking for the top ten to go on in the series.

The top ten players selected from each of the trials around Australia will compete against each other at the next stage of filming to be held this weekend at Monash Clayton, 25 and 26 April.

Fifteen players from the weekend camp will then be selected for an all expenses paid month long training camp under the supervision of Melbourne Victory staff as well as play competitive matches against local teams while living as a group in a house in Melbourne.

The program will start airing on FOX8 in mid May.

It was a great afternoon for those involved with Football Superstar at Monash Sport.
