Inter-Campus Futsal Competition

On Thursday 21st July Monash Sport hosted the inaugural inter-campus futsal competition. Teams representing Clayton, Caulfield, Peninsula and Gippsland converged on the Recreation Hall at the Clayton sports centre to play off for futsal bragging rights.

The standard of the competition was very high with all matches tightly contested. After pool games the Clayton and Caulfield teams matched up for what promised to be a hotly contested final. The Clayton team was clinical converting their chances to win the final 3-0.

The Southern University Futsal Championships are being hosted by RMIT on the 20th August. Hugh Tsang, Monash University futsal sport manager was on hand scouting all the players, "This was a great opportunity for me to see some of the soccer talent from the other Monash campuses and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the team can do at the upcoming championships". It is likely the Monash University team will comprise members from most of the campuses involved.
