Melbourne Marathon 2008Sunday 12 October 2008 Melbourne put on a beautiful morning for the annual Melbourne Marathon, clear crisp sunny skies and little wind, perfect conditions for the race. Participants met pre-race at the giant TeamMONASH™ tent, where they stretched warmed up and prepared for the big race. Post race drinks and snacks were offered, along with massages for those that needed. A great job was done by the 25 volunteers that helped out during the race. Over 500 runners and walkers from TeamMONASH™ proudly competed in the annual Melbourne Marathon event. Distances ranged from 5.5km to the full 42.2km. First time TeamMONASH™ event participant Vanessa-Jane Brown (Commerce student at Berwick) set herself the goal of completing the 5.5km event. "It was great fun on the day and gave me a chance to complete my little goal I set for myself" commented Jones, who discovered TeamMONASH™ by stumbling across the web page. For alumnus Kenny Cheng (Bachelor Commerce, 2003), this was his third Melbourne Marathon, where he completed the 21.1km event in under two hours. "I do these events with some of my friends, the team atmosphere is great, we also did the Mothers Day Classic". The next TeamMONASH™ event is the Around the Bay in a Day cycling event, taking place this Sunday 19 October followed by the Portsea Swim Classic on Saturday 17 January 2009.
