Monash students inspired by World Cup as they prepare for Southern University Games

Almost 300 Monash University students have been busy preparing for the Southern University Games (SUG) to be held in Ballarat 3-6 th July.

There will be 24 Monash teams competing in 15 sports from Australian Rules football to volleyball. Lawn bowls has been added to the event for the first time.

Men's soccer coach, Brett Lavale, says "The team is really inspired by the World Cup action. Like the Socceroos, there's also a great multicultural representation; including Greeks, Italians, Croatians, Japanese, South Americans and of course Aussies. Sport brings students of all cultures together."

Reining SUG champions, the men’s Australian Rules football, rugby 7's and women's soccer teams will be fighting to retain their titles.
