More Medals for Monash

Recently a team of 14 swimmers from Monash University Swim Club attended the Victorian Open Championships held from January 16 to 18 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
MUSC swimmer Alex Harris, took a personal haul of 4 individual medals, including gold in the 50m freestyle and silver medals in the 100m backstroke, 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle.
Another standout performance came from 15 year old Matthew Silcocks who qualified to compete in his first Victorian Open Championships only this year. Silcocks won himself his first swimming medal picking up bronze in the 100m backstroke with a great swim.
The third standout performance came from World Championship medallist Tay Zimmer, who picked up a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke with a finals time of 2.22.68.
These, among other performances by MUSC swimmers ensured an overall fourth place finish for the club.
