Netball Showdown

Monday 2 March

Last Friday 27 February, Monash Sport hosted the Melbourne Vixens as they took on the Monash University Central in a pre-season warm up game for both clubs. More than 100 people filled the stands at the Stadium at Monash Sport.

The Melbourne Vixens are one of the form teams in the ANZ Championship Netball League, finishing fourth in the 2008 season.

Monash University Central Netball Club fields a team in the state league, as well as supporting over 30 teams in other leagues.

The match provided the opportunity for each club to gain some experience leading into each of their respective seasons. The match was also very entertaining for the crowds that came to watch.

Five quarters were played, with the scores zeroed at the end of each quarter. Prizes and giveaways were also handed out to the audience to reward the great atmosphere they created. One young onlooker exclaimed “it’s so cool to see the Vixens so close, it’s very fun!”
