Squash Team Hit Top Form
By Lauren Grylls
In Wednesday’s Men’s squash, Monash’s Brandon Wong won his match against the University of Western Australia.
Despite the UWA player taking a few fantastic points, Wong won convincingly in three straight sets, 15 – 5, 15 – 5, 15 – 3.
Earlier in the day Monash defeated UTS 3 matches to 1. Stephen George overcame his loss from Monday and regained his winning edge. The win was described as “the game of his life”, according to Team Manager Anurag Gill.
In the fourth game of the match, George was down 14 – 11 at game point, but managed to stage a remarkable comeback, winning the game 15 – 14. George then went on to win the match in true fighting spirit, winning the match 3 sets to 2.
Gill believes that Monash are in with a chance to take out the Gold. “We completely lost the first round to Melbourne University, but the way we’ve picked up, its enough to say, get Gold”.
Monash will play Melbourne University again on Thursday. We wish our entire squash team the best of luck and Go TeamMONASH™!!!
