- Victorious Skipper of Australia II in the 1983 America's Cup
- Represented Australia in five America's Cups, three Olympic Games and numerous world championships
- The Australia II victory was voted by the Australian Sports Hall of Fame as the greatest Australian team performance in 200 years of sport.
